About Mahjong
Mahjong is a game somewhat like poker from Asia, played by 4 players using tiles (similar to Rami or Rummikub), extremely popular in Asia. The game’s popularity in Europe is in full expansion ; there is an official european association (EMA) which centralizes the rules, rankings and results for tournaments. In Belgium, the community is growing a little every day (mahjongbelgium.be) and the LLN Mahjong Club actively participates in promoting Mahjong in Louvain-la-Neuve.
About Our Club
The Louvain-la-Neuve Mahjong Club has been promoting Mahjong in Louvain-la-Neuve since 2011. We started with a few university students, but as we grew throughout the years, we now count on average 25 players getting together every monday with a mixed group of students, doctoral students, young graduates and workers.
In addition to our weekly sessions, we participate in the organization of certain activities with project kots in Louvain-la-Neuve (e.g.: introduction to the Asian games of Kot-é-Chine, Mangakissa of Kotmanga, etc.) and we also offer initiations during events and conventions outside Louvain-la-Neuve (e.g.: Made in Asia, Brussels Game Festival, school activity days, etc.).
We regularly participate in various European tournaments abroad (e.g. Cologne, Paris, London, Berghem, etc.) and also wish to organize a tournament in Louvain-la-Neuve soon. Visit our website and Facebook page regularly to stay informed of our upcoming activities!
